Chambers is not a firm and it contains the separate offices of individual barristers, each self-employed and working separately. They may be instructed individually or as a group.
Members of Chambers appear regularly before all courts and tribunals in Mauritius, and have also appeared before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London.
Chambers is situated in the heart of the capital, Port Louis.
We are opposite the New Court House and a stone throw from the Supreme Court and the Commercial Court.
Sanjay Bhuckory, SC
Barrister
Sanjay graduated from the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) in 1983. He was called to the Bar of England & Wales, as a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, and the Mauritian Bar, in 1984. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2010. He now heads a multi-disciplinary Chambers. He appears regularly before the Supreme Court of Mauritius, and has also appeared before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London in landmark cases. He is an accredited arbitrator with the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Sanjay lectured Criminal Law at, and was a member of the Board of Examiners of, the Council of Legal Education for 20 years. He now lectures at the Institute for Judicial & Legal Studies.
He wrote the Mauritius Chapter of a book entitled ‘Speaking Freely’ on ‘Expression & The Law in the Commonwealth’, which Geoffrey Robertson, Q.C commended as being a neat summary of the media laws of Mauritius. In 2004, Sanjay was elected Chairman of the Mauritius Bar Association, of which he is currently the Chairperson of the Complaints & Ethics Committee.
Fooad Nooraully
Barrister
Fooad was called to the Mauritian Bar in January 1999. He is a seasoned corporate and commercial lawyer, well versed in both the advisory and transactional areas. He also has more than 20 years extensive experience in employment laws, dispute resolutions, human resources, trusts, pension and in the field of corruption offences.
In his career, Fooad has dealt with the major airlines, banks and financiers, lessors, manufacturers and insurers and has considerable experience in the drafting of corporate agreements and in a full range of aviation legal services.
Tony Gukhool
Barrister
Tony has a broad practice spanning Chambers’ areas of expertise. He acts as sole counsel and also as part of a larger team, whether in an advisory or a contentious context. He is particularly interested in criminal litigation, commercial and civil matters. He appears before courts and tribunals in Mauritius and has appeared before the appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. Tony holds a BSc Joint Honours in accountancy and management studies from Cardiff University and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the South Bank University and a post graduate Diploma in Law from the Inns of Court School of Law.
Sandiram Poonisamy

Sandiram has a broad practice spanning Chambers’ areas of expertise. He acts as sole counsel and also as part of a larger team, whether in an advisory or a contentious context. He is particularly interested in criminal litigation, commercial and tax disputes and advisory work. He regularly assists his Senior and Head of Chambers, Sanjay Bhuckory Senior Counsel, at different levels. He appears before courts and tribunals in Mauritius and also formed part of a team, led by Sanjay Bhuckory SC, successfully representing the appellant, before the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London in April 2016.

Cliff read law at Victoria University, Australia. He completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University. He was admitted on the roll of the Supreme Court of Victoria, the Federal Court of Australia, the High Court of New Zealand as an Australian Legal Practitioner. He was called to the Mauritius Bar in 2019.
Sanjana Bhuckory
Barrister
Sanjana graduated from the University of Bristol and undertook her Bar Professional Training Course at BPP University, Bristol. She was called to the Bar of England & Wales, as a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, in July 2021. In September 2022, Sanjana was called at the Bar of Mauritius.
Sanjana is actively involved in civil, commercial, family and criminal matters, as well as disciplinary committees and arbitrations. She is particularly interested in corporate advisory and transactional matters. She appears regularly before all Courts and tribunals of Mauritius as part of a team or as a sole counsel.
Pallavi Ramdhian
Barrister
Pallavi graduated from University of Hertfordshire in 2015. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales, as a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2017. She was called to the Bar of Mauritius in 2018.
Prior to joining the Chambers, she was employed in a Top-tier Law Firm as a corporate and civil barrister.

Yachna holds a Bachelor in Law and Criminal Justice from the University of Mauritius, and has over 3 years’ experience in the legal and financial sector. Yachna is responsible for the general management of the Chambers. Yachna is currently enrolled on the STEP Certificate in Anti- Money Laundering (UK).
